Hi Martin
Induction generators are still used for their simplicity and low cost compared to synchronous alternatives. They are nevertheless less efficient, hence generally called for between a few hundred kW to around 3MW. Most manufacturers would be able to offer you an option to what you currently have on site. If you wish I can connect you with engineers in your region who could assist further.
Regards
Alex

Thanks all, however, I was talking about, say, 2MW 6.6kV 12-pole synchronous induction motors used as fan drives, in mining or cement and pulp&paper industries for high starting torque, low starting current, PF compensation, no harmonics and repairable by local workshop type of machines.

Yes it is a good alternative to a standard motor design do to cost and effiency.
If needed please contact WEG UK or find design and spec on WEG.Net
God weekend to all

Tatung Can offer a drop in replacement or a new design as well. These are very common in Pulp and paper Not so much in mining

Hi Martin,
I believe there is some confusion on your request... you either need a synchronous motor or an induction motor (asynchronous). If you are looking for a replacement that matches existent motor footprint, CG can build one. Just email me at marcelo.oliveira@cgglobal.com and I will get you some required information for us to present you with a proposal.
Best regards,
Marcelo.

For motors with less power you can used a pure copper rotor in high pressure die cast for your asynchron motors from Favi
