How to check transformer Oil IR value and what are the test require for transformer oil.

Using a meg gar of required voltage level, check the IR and PI Values. Then check the BDV, Tan delta etc on test sample taken appropriately using the test kit. Then you can go for a DGA analysis also in an accredited lab for RLA study.

Take an oil sample from the transformer drain knope and test it in automatic oil test machine. It consists of two electrods. you put the sample in it and the voltage will start increasing kV/s. Until a spark occure. You repeat the test six times then you take the average. The kV level is your oil break down voltage

BDV and DGA is testing of Oil. Transformer test as per IS 2026.

there are a lot of periodical tests for the oil transformer, you should be carried out every 3, 6 months and every 3 years, 1) oil dielectric strength break down voltage test (every 3 months) if you have a tester. 2) DGA Dissolved Gases Analysis -Total Acid Content-Water content- .
Traces of Furanic compounds to be check if there is (no) significant damage of the cellulosic insulation - Passivator (copper corrosive) content if it is active or not. all previous tests can you send for the lab at least every 6 months. 3) Tan delta every 3 years.
