I use to sell this type of pump very often and it is excellent for pumping Sludge Don't be affraid of using PCP, some recommendation is to look to the speed according to the type of sludge you are pumping..

Yes indeed we have installed numerous Mono type PC pumps on UK wastewater sites mainly for pumping sludge without any problems.

Very complete and accurate presentation of the application. Good guideline for
like installations

Depends on the application but for sure PC pumps (and peristaltic pumps for that matter) have and can be used in WWTP, WTP and STP and have been installed all over the world for many years. If you go to www.allweiler.de you can view our Waste Water Brochure that outlines the types of pumps we manufacture for different applications within the facility.

PC pumps have been used in many different applications with in water and waste water treatment sludge pumping. pumping of lime slurries and other larger scale dosing requirements. also the Flygt N series has proved very useful for pumping of sludge up to 8 or 9 percent

PC pumps have been used for decades in WWTP applications. Many run well while others have issues. A PC pump is sensitive to running dry, dead head and tramp solids, along with consuming valuable floor space and being labor intensive. If experiencing regular repairs perhaps another alternative would be work considering:

The disc pump survives deah-head, dry-running and is able to pass large rock hard solids without damage with life spans often many times that of PC pumps.

The PC pump can be fitted with Dry Run protection so that is not an issue (for our PC pumps at least) - I cannot speak to other PC manufacturers. Our PC pumps can be fitted with bridge breakers (for solids), augers, etc. to alleviate stringy solids from winding around the pump rotating element. Passing solids can be handled by undercutting the rotor in the PC pump

To avoid indeed on rundry or solids trapped, installation is the key. Don´t install at the botom of the well/sump you can install on the upper with an "Inverted U" in fact i recommend you instead of have press/belt filter look to our Decanters in Alfa Laval
